Which forum is most used, and which forum focuses on pickups and travelalls more. It appears to me that most of the forum posts are scout related, as are most of the vendor sites. Binder Bullentin appears to have the most menbers. Binder Planet has many sub-classes as well as regional threads.

I like the sites that are visually easy to read. Dark backgrounds are hard to read (i.e. Binder Planet). Binder Bench has an easy type font to read on screen.

Give me your opionions. Do not want to offend anyone concerning best forum.
Thanks

Started about a month ago to get my old binder going again. Rust is everywhere on the old binder. I was preping for the gas tank re-install yesterday afternoon, and now most of the passenger side floor board is gone, including the fuel tank strap mount. Problem mainly caused by leaking rusted out vents in the cowl. Very little rust from the exterior side of the floorboard. All of it is from the interior side of the floorboard.

My plans are to remove the cowl cover and rebuild the vents. The windshield will have to be removed to do this. Short term fix is to seal off the vent on the cowl cover.

I am using Ospho rust treatment to kill the rust. have used this in the past on metal with good success. Until I get a welder, I will patch the floor with sheetmetal and rivets.

Any suggestions on removing the rust outside of cutting out the problem. Has anyone used a treatment like Ospho and had success longterm? I applied Ospho to every rust area I could reach yesterday. Including the frame. Let me hear your stories on dealing with the rust.

My 392 in my T'all wont turn over. Starter cranks, new battery so plenty of power. I replaced the fuel filter coming out of the front tank (used a clear one only so I could see if gas was passing through). Gas was running right through it. I then replaced the fuel filter coming off the carb heading to the fuel pump. No gas...well just a tiny bit but when I turn the key on and hear the fuel pump running (which it sounds weaker than it used to) shouldn't it fill up that filter?
So, that's my thoughts.....bad pump? It's a Carter pump if you need to know.

Thanks for any input.
It still needs a little love but has been doing well on the road. Both fuel tanks appear clean and operational. The only challenge driving it is 1) my fuel gage reads "E" at all times. Something is up with it regardless of which tank I select. 2) The manual fuel selector located on the floor seems to spin a bunch - never comes to rest. I'm wondering if its actually switching between tanks. Is this normal?!
The problem I'm having is that the gauge seems to be reading around 40F hotter (220F) than what my IR Thermometer reads (180F). When driving around, It doesn't get hotter than 220F (180F Believed actual) and my thermostat is rated for 180F. Do I need a resistor somewhere in the sender line? How can this gauge be calibrated? The guy at the auto parts store doesn't know **** which is expected.

So for my next scout I would like it to have a 5.9 cummins.
I know all the die hard scout fans are going to flame me.

I was thinking that the scout II frame and suspension will not take the heavy cummins motor.
I could take a 3/4 or 1 ton dodge running gear with the motor/tranny bolted up and shorten the frame. Make cab mounts for the scout body. Then I have the larger fuel tank, updated coil suspension.

Or I could take a scout frame and upgrade the axles to 1 ton.Shoe-horn the motor into it. Im not sure what combo to use guess it depends on which axles.

Has anybody done the 5.9 cummins into the scout? I have searched but every time its mentioned in a post they are talked out of it and go for the smaller cummins.

Links for info would be great.

I wanna say it was a 68 or 69 scout one thing I remember it had an all Aluminum body and I think they only made this way a couple years. Had a V8. Had a roll cage. Would go anywhere and not get damaged rolling it at pismo beach out in Ca. Wife made me sell it when she got prego about 16 years ago but now I'm in a position to get a hobby like restoring and 4 wheeling. What year you think I should be looking for exactly? THX

I'm thinking about putting this amc 304 motor I have in my scout 800B I have. My scout came with the amc 232 motor but was pulled before I bought it. Still had the T-90 and dana 20 in it. My question is since I had an amc motor in previously will this 304 fit? I bought the mounts for the motor the other day and it looks like I would just need to drill another hole in the bolt on frame mounts it had with the scout. I know the tranny won't match up I would probably need a t-18 but has anyone done this? The motor swap I mean? Will this work? Should I just go back to the straight 6 and and not waste my time? The amc 304 I bought was only 100 bucks and came with starter, altenator, bell housing, clutch, and wiring harness. Please if anyone can help I would be greatly appreciated. thanks
