Time to prove it

So when I bid ($500.00 ebay) on my 58 t-all I never actually thought I would win it, I did. My wife very unhappy so I had to sell it as our new family vactionmobile. After 6 years, many paychecks and headaches it is time to prove it. July kicks off our summer tour, Boise to visit family and hit water park then off Joseph OR for chief joseph days, Halfway OR to meet up with friends and then finally Eugene for the country fair. So far I have 600 miles on it, need to charge a/c, change out rearend and we are off. I am not fond of crow so hopefully it's smooth sailing

Wow - I love it. What a brave man to take on such a project. We have a similar project with a 66 VW bus. I am excited to hear how it rolls.

Wow, what a neat looking ride!

Can you post some more pictures of the interior? What you have done with the dash looks outstanding.

Re: Time to prove it

Jensers I've noticed that VW in the background cool looking ride.

Thanks for the compliments It is nice to hear after the the time and trouble I have endured. I did everything myself except the paint which has turned out to be almost a nightmare, It looks great but there are few little things. The interior is still in progress, I am using gm front seats, I want to cut them down about 3" and replace factory seatbelts with 3 point aircraft type seatbelts, and upholster everything in black, I still need a rubber mat, headliner, I have rear carpet on order. I need to switch out my front heater knobs with the grey variety and change some of the exposed bolts with new ones, the stereo is in an overhead console I built. I almost used a ford starliner gauge pod and mid sixties pontiac dash clock but didn't. I am adding a 3rd seat from a 62 t-all. The entire rear section is spray-on bedliner from extreme coatins here in PDX the only vendor I didn't have problems with (outback AARRG). I am working on straightening the front bumper right now for chrome, I need to widen wheels and new tires. For some reason the pics of the bedliner material never looks as clean as it should. I forgot to add .com parts to my arrg list, I have met the owner a couple times seems nice, I have never bought anything but I always get the sense I would be ripped off if given the chance, oh yea I forgot I did get ripped off they took some wing window rubber to reproduce, then forgot who I was.

It runs and rides beautifully but the work never ends. I can't make the binder bee but I may drop by the bash if timing works out.

I didn't have any problems, I was really careful. My tow rig was 1964 c-1200 factory short bed. The short wheelbase along with the terrible stock non power brakes forced me to be careful. I only towed for about 75 miles.

Re: Time to prove it

Alright so we just got home from our trip (Boise, Halfway & Joseph). Everything went great. Charged A/C just before leaving and it saved us. I was able to sqeek out some more mpg (16) still working on getting a little more.

I met some great IH guys along the way. One in particular while in Joseph invited me to come by his place in Pendelton and see if there is anything I could use. He has a 52 4by4, 56 pickup, 35 1.5 ton and an 80 scout. He said he just doesn't have time for them.

I am seriously considering the 35. I am planning on maybe Sept.

I tried to upload some photos but no luck.

Re: Time to prove it

Holy smokes - I am sure the AC did save you! That fishbowl in 100 degree weather? Yikes.

Glad to hear that it all went well... It is really a cool rig.

Did you take any pictures of the trucks?

That fishbowl is getting tinted windows. The heat coming through is unbelievable.
