help with vin?

I have a 40's IH vin 89764
Im trying to find the exact year.
Im getting the truck bonded so I can get
a title and I just dont know the year.
Any help?

What does it say before those numbers you gave us? KB 1,2,3? K 1,2,3? that info might help us figure it out.

Looks like your truck is a 1949 production model. See the Serial Number listing from the Wisconsin Historical Society archives shown below.

Edit: I removed the image of the WHS Serial Number page to avoid any copyright issues. See their website to view the page. Open the link below and then click the "1928 to 1966" line, then select "1947 to 1949" and you will see Serial numbers for 1949 KB-2 trucks start with 74,330. Your truck is after that number so was built in 1949.
